There were rockslides hindering our timing as access was only permitted before 9 am and after 5 pm, so we left at the crack of dawn to ensure we got into the lineup and made it through with the first group of the day.

We detoured momentarily to Ucluelet before settling into Tofino for some down time!

We had a great boat ride to the hot springs while the little white Corvette cooled down and got a quick wash!

We headed home through Nanaimo and another ferry ride dropping us off in Horseshoe Bay.

The trip was winding down, for now, but all intentions were to return in September for a journey north towards Prince Rupert.

In September 2023 much of northern Canada was on fire, with locals displaced and hotels overcrowded. It was best to leave the car nice and tight in her winter storage for one last season!

We left the highway just north of Mount Vernon and started to inch our way further west on Hwy 1!

We passed Oak Harbor and landed by ferry at Port Townsend. We grabbed some great shots of the Seattle skyline across the bay before returning to the 101 into Olympia and west to Aberdeen.

We followed the 101 with a quick detour into Long Beach before spending the night in Astoria.

We found some of the most unique places to spend our nights on our way to Route 66. We enjoyed ocean breezes and sea-life carols wafting in through the open windows.

We spent a night at the Warfmaster Inn in Point Arena and had the best pizza EVER!!! I would go back just for the pizza!

We hugged the 101 coastline into California, drove through a redwood, and found the photo op of the century as the little white Corvette snuggled between two trees and the Golden Gate Bridge towered behind her.

Just after the Avenue of the Giants in the Humboldt Redwoods State Park, we finally found the 1!!! We jumped off the 101 at Leggett and began our tour down the infamous Highway 1!

It was worth it, and I have the pictures to prove it!

This little white Corvette twisted and turned through the coastal magnificence and stopped as often as she could to show off! She had her top down most of the way!

After Santa Cruz and Monterey, we got as far as Big Sur before we had to turn back due to the continued repairs required after the mudslides.

We joined the 1 again at Cambria and spent the night in San Simeon.  I toured the Hearst Castle as my captain changed hats and became my mechanic. A nice valet directed Lajos to our secure parking spot and wasn’t very gentle getting in. He broke my seat!

With all repairs completed after my castle tour conclusion, we continued our journey back south on Highway 1.

After a quick stop for fuel, the car began to overheat. We pulled over, and that mechanic did his magic again. Lajos was able to “jerry-rig" it together till we got to the closest O’Reillys with proper parts and a parking lot repair!

Finally, Santa Barbara and one last night before complete mayhem.  Route 66 and the Santa Monica Pier!

Please check out our Route 66 album. The pictures speak for themselves!
